It will take place Thursday, May 9, in the Daer Nightclub at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.

“When I retired, I had two friends, both former NFL players, who were having what I saw as a mental breakdown,” said McKinnie. “They were more comfortable talking to me, rather than their own family. That is the moment I realized mental health is real and how important it is to have a support system to help see you through your down moments.”

McKinnie said he immediately added mental health awareness to his foundation’s mission statement. Known as the BMajor Foundation, it’s committed to enhancing the lives of youth and single parent homes by promoting overall fitness and wellbeing.

Joining McKinnie for the May event are psychologists, celebrity therapists, television and radio personalities and NFL champions.

It all gets underway at 7 p.m. General admission is $100 per person and includes parking. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit BMajor Foundation and Children’s Bereavement Center, which will receive a donation at the event.
