Tribute to Teachers: Rockfeller Edouard educates, sings his way into the heart of students

HIALEAH, Fla. – For Rockfeller Edouard, teaching isn’t just a profession— it’s his passion, woven into every moment of his 27-year career as an exceptional student education teacher.

At Hialeah High School, Edouard’s infectious enthusiasm resonates with his students, who respond eagerly to his joyful exuberance and dedicated teaching methods.

Whether leading a workout session or serenading his class with a song, his patience and understanding create a supportive environment where students thrive.

“We’re all on separate journeys,” said Edouard. “They are on different journeys themselves, and I’m trying to let them do the best they can on their journeys.”

Edouard’s dedication was honored as he was selected as one of only five teachers in South Florida for the prestigious Tribute to Teachers award. Surrounded by colleagues and administrators, Edouard said he was moved by the recognition.

“This lets me know that the work that I do and as much as I push, I guess it’s worthwhile and others do see it,” said Edouard.

“He’s a teacher that we principals wish for,” said Hialeah High School Principal Ignacio Rodriguez. “He is just one of the kindest, gentlest souls I’ve ever met. As a teacher, he gives 100% to his kids. The love just flows.”

In addition to the honor, Mr. Edouard received a surprise gift—a $1,000 Publix gift card, presented with heartfelt appreciation for his unwavering dedication.

“Thank you so much. I don’t know what to say. I’m at a loss for words,” said Edouard.

As the ceremony concluded, Edouard couldn’t resist serenading the audience with a rendition of “Unforgettable,” a fitting tribute to his own impact on the lives of his students.

For Edouard, the recognition is not just for his teaching prowess but for the indelible mark he leaves on every life he touches—a true testament to his unwavering commitment to education and compassion for his students.

Edouard has created a sensory-friendly classroom and outdoor garden for his students and told Local 10 he plans on using his Publix gift cards to buy more spices and vegetables for it.
