MIAMI — The long-awaited third chapter in the Tron saga is back.
Tron: Ares takes place in a world where artificial intelligence crosses over into the real one.
Actor Arturo Castro stars as tech maven Seth, alongside an all-star cast that includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters and Gillian Anderson.
Castro spoke with Local 10 News about the energy on set.
“Incredible,” he said. “I mean, listen, I was just talking about this, but I think post-strike, post-pandemic, there’s a sense of gratitude and a sense of acknowledgment of how lucky we are to do this job. And so, yeah, we’re just like big kids in this big playground, having the best time.”
The film follows Ares, a digital program sent from the human world, and raises big questions about technology, identity, and the ubiquity of AI.
“I think technology is neither bad nor good — it just depends on how you use it,” said Castro.
He also described the expansive tech sets and mind-blowing action during filming.
“It was like walking into Disneyland every day. I mean, they built the sets themselves, so I really thought it was going to be a lot of green screen. Then you walk in — and they built the grid.”
Tron: Ares premieres Friday in theaters.
