MIAMI — Four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke is earning widespread praise for his performance in “Blue Moon,” portraying lyricist Lorenz Hart during the final night of his life.

To embody the role, Hawke shaved his head, changed his posture and wore contact lenses to capture Hart’s likeness. Critics are calling it one of the best performances of his career.

Hawke is being honored Saturday night with the Variety Virtuoso Award, presented by Ramin Setoodeh, Variety’s co-editor in chief.
