MIAMI — For the first time in his illustrious hip-hop career, Rick Ross is hitting the road with a full orchestra and a celebration of the album that changed everything: “Port of Miami.”

“It’s going to be an extravagant moment, so come with your A-game,” Ross said in an interview with Local 10’s Alexis Frazier.

Ross says this tour is about celebrating how far the culture — and the city of Miami — have come.

If you’re going, don’t just show up. Come dressed to impress and ready to show out.

Hip-hop artists have performed with live instruments before, but Ross says this experience takes things to another level.

“Shout out to all the other artists who’ve done their thing. When I first saw Jay-Z do it — Jeezy has done it too — but I haven’t seen it like this, with a full orchestra and full choir," he said.

And there’s something poetic about the fact that it all starts in Miami — the city that helped build the boss.

Twenty years later, “Hustlin’” is still one of his most streamed songs.

“When I recorded ‘Everyday I’m Hustlin’,’ there was no way I could imagine 20 summers later, people still playing it,” Ross said.

And after two decades in the game, the Boss says he’s still hungry.

“The legacy ain’t going nowhere,” a humbled Ross said.

In addition to touring, Ross just released a new book.

The “Port of Miami 20” tour kicks off Friday at the James L. Knight Center.
