OPA-LOCKA, Fla. — Miami-Dade firefighters extinguished a large blaze that occurred Thursday night at a junkyard in Opa-locka.
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, more than 30 firefighters responded to the junkyard near the 12800 block of Cairo Lane just before 8:40 p.m.
“MDFR firefighters arrived to find a large column of flames coming from the rear of the property, with the fire spreading to a pile of several vehicles,” an MDFR spokesperson told Local 10 News in an email Friday. “The call was upgraded to a Second Alarm due to the need for additional manpower.”
Firefighters said crews used aerial ladders to fight the fire and remained at the scene overnight to monitor and extinguish hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
