CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Pickle lovers in South Florida have a new destination to satisfy their cravings.
New York Pickles & Company, a longtime favorite at the Festival Flea Market and Yellow Green Farmers Market, has opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Coral Springs.
The new shop offers 12 different flavors, ranging from spicy to sweet to classic sour, all made fresh and without the preservatives typically found in grocery store varieties.
“This is gonna be the best pickle you’ve ever had. And I’m gonna stand on that,” said owner Joe Riggins, who transformed his popular market stand into a full-service pickle store.
Riggins said the company’s pickles stand out for their crunch and freshness, a result of the fermentation process.
“The store-bought pickles have a lot more preservatives in it,” he said. “After a while you’ll notice when you open a jar it becomes soft … it’s not as crunchy. These pickles are fermented so you’re always going to catch them fresh.”
Customers can also find olives, peppers and other jarred goods alongside the wide selection of pickles. Riggins said the response from the local community has been overwhelmingly positive.
“Oh man we have been blessed. God has really blessed us. The city of Coral Springs and the city of Parkland has really showed us a lot of love,” Riggins said.
Beyond taste, Riggins notes the health benefits of pickles and pickle juice, which he says can help with cramps, dehydration and inflammation.
New York Pickles & Company is now open in Coral Springs, offering customers the option to buy in-store or order online.
