Spooky season is officially here and South Florida spots aren’t just decorating – they’re transforming into haunted hangouts.
Local 10’s Alexis Frazier checked out two spots -- one in Miami and one in Broward to bring us all the delicious details.
By day, Rosalia’s Kitchen in Miramar is a Mediterranean-fusion restaurant, but come October, it transforms into a haunted hideaway.
“So we named the restaurant Rosalia’s Kitchen in honor of my grandmother,” owner Rafael Brazon-Difatta said. “So this could be considered the kooky, spooky, grandma’s house. The one that you don’t know if she’s really a witch or she’s just your grandma.”
They go all out with handmade decorations.
“We put green goo on the baby heads, we have a hand coming out,” Brazon-Difatta explained.
“Most of the decorations are done by hand,” he added. “We had some friends, some family members coming to help. It took about two to three months to make everything (and) 24 hours to turn the restaurant around from summer to Halloween.”
And what’s spooky good there? The food!
From pumpkin ravioli to glittery martinis, there’s something for everyone.
“So apart from eating something that tastes like fall and drinking something that looks like Halloween, you might be hearing some whispers and some haunts around the restaurant,” Brazon-Difatta warned.
Over in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, inside Puttery, Frankenstein’s Mad Scientist Cocktail Lab let’s you become a part of the experiment.
“Inside Frankenstein’s Lab, you’ll find yourself surrounded by mysterious potions, shimmering elixirs and spine-tingling concoctions,” event sales manager Cristina Papadia said.
There, you don’t just order a drink, you help bring it to life.
With 90 minutes to play scientist, you also have your choice of food that’s scary good.
