DANIA BEACH, Fla. — If you’ve ever watched a game show from your couch and thought you could do better than the contestants, a new South Florida attraction is giving you the chance to prove it.

Great Big Game Show has arrived at Dania Pointe, transforming everyday visitors into game show contestants through a series of challenges testing knowledge, strategy, speed and luck.

The experience accommodates groups of two to 14 contestants, who are divided into red and blue teams and compete to rack up points throughout multiple rounds.

“I think everyone’s always wanted to be a contestant on a game show, and now is your chance,” general manager Justin Hambey said. “There’s music, you have a live host, so you really feel immersed in that experience.”

Local 10’s Alexis Frazier brought along several members of the Local 10 team to put the experience to the test.

And once the teams were divided, coworkers quickly became competitors.

From trivia to building challenges

The competition kicked off with “Build It Up,” which gave contestants 60 seconds to construct the tallest tower they could.

Communication under pressure proved to be just as important as building skills.

From there, contestants faced questions ranging from a first-grade to fifth-grade level.

The challenges continued to change throughout the experience. Some tested knowledge, while others required strategy, speed or a little bit of luck.

Another game, “Major Miners,” featured a format similar to a survey-style game show, with teams trying to guess answers on a board and earn points.

The Local 10 teams eventually found themselves tied, setting up a final spin to determine the winner.

One unfortunate spin landed on “Lose It All,” bringing the competition to a dramatic end — complete with screams and confetti for the winning team.

Escape rooms add another challenge

The game show isn’t the only attraction available.

Visitors can also take on The Escape Game, a 60-minute escape room experience where teams work together to solve puzzles and clues before time runs out.

“You work together with your team to solve clues and puzzles and find a way out within one hour,” Hambey said.

Among the adventures is “The Heist,” where participants attempt to recover a stolen painting.

“The Depths” takes players into an abandoned underwater laboratory, while “Ruins: Forbidden Treasure” sends teams on an adventure through the jungle.

Local 10’s teams tried another escape experience that even included a snowy surprise — but we’re not giving away the clues.

Great Big Game Show at Dania Pointe opens to the public Friday.
