MIAMI — One high-end Italian restaurant that originated in Argentina has opened up its very first location in the U.S., and you can find it right in the heart of Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood.
Piegari brings the taste of Italy to life in every dish.
“It’s a restaurant that actually opened 30 years ago in Argentina,” Piegari Director of Operations Jose Cruz said. “We have 30 years of experience, and last July, we opened here our first endeavor in the U.S.”
Luckily for us, their first home in the U.S. is located right in Wynwood -- Miami’s artsy, edgy and always hungry hot spot!
So why the Magic City?
“That’s an excellent question,” Cruz said. “I think that we Argentinians are very driven by the Miami energy, the drive for the Latin people, the place, the connection.”
It’s the perfect match of energy and culture, and that’s reflected in their menu.
While staying true to its classic Italian roots, Piegari puts a South American twist on the table for everyone to enjoy.
“Argentina has a great influx of Italian immigrants,” Cruz said. “In fact, 60% of the Argentinian population has an Italian background. And I think that tells a different story as how the Italian cuisine can be presented despite the fact where they come from.”
And if you’re a fan of wine, welcome to heaven.
“We feature around 200 different wines from Italy and also from South America,” Cruz said.
If vino isn’t your vibe, don’t you worry. They serve up some creative cocktails too!
“Our signature drink menu is actually really exciting,” Cruz said. “We feature around 13 drinks that were created for every palette. And considering the essence of the restaurant and the Italian traditional classic style that we present, one of our most popular drinks is the Belladonna that is made with vodka -- a floral profile that is restrained and elegant. Ladies love that drink. And another one is the smoked old fashioned. I think that the flashy element of how it’s smoked at the table and presented in situ, it really showcases it in a great light.”
From birthday celebrations to corporate gatherings, Piegari specializes in hosting unforgettable private events that can be booked online.
