Several South Florida restaurant kitchens were ordered shut following inspections by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Two very different South Florida food spots recently achieved something that is not easy for any restaurant or food operation to do. Both received perfect scores during unannounced routine food safety inspections conducted by the state of Florida.

State inspectors ordered the Las Cazuelas Mexican restaurant in Pembroke Pines shut down after finding roach activity in the kitchen, including live roaches inside a cooler and another in a hand-washing sink, along with about 20 dead roaches trapped behind equipment.

Roaches crawling behind kitchen equipment. Rodent issues. Food prepared at home and brought in to be served. And a restaurant ordered shut down for the third time.

Local 10 has compiled a list of restaurants that racked up 30 or more violations during recent state inspections.

Last week, inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation ordered three restaurants shut down, including The Original Pancake House in Miami-Dade County, which racked up an alarming 46 violations.

No one sees 100 rodent droppings in the kitchen, right? Well, state inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation did.
