PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — WPLG’s own Jenise Fernandez is on a quest to save lives.
Go Red for Women, supporting the American Heart Association, has nominated Fernandez as a Woman of Impact.
Beginning this Friday at 9 a.m., Fernandez will officially launch her effort to raise awareness and funds to fight heart disease.
The nine-week campaign, called “Heart of South Florida,” will feature stories on heart health, inspiring profiles on survivors of heart disease and engaging activities to improve one’s quality of life.
Fernandez will extend Local 10 viewers an opportunity to get involved and donate to the campaign directly. She has set a fundraising goal of $15,000. The deadline to meet and exceed this goal is April 9 at 9 p.m.
“As part of this year’s nationwide class of changemakers, I’ve brought together a team that’s working to make the greatest impact possible on women’s heart health,” said Fernandez. “We will be raising much-needed funds for the American Heart Association and working to improve the well-being of our communities. I hope we can count on you for support!”
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year.
Local 10 invites you to join Fernandez’s mission to raise critical funds for heart education, research and treatment.
The nominee who makes the greatest impact at the end of the nine weeks is named the 2026 Miami Woman of Impact Winner and the top nominee nationwide is named the Go Red for Women’s National Woman of Impact Winner.
Together, we can all be heart heroes and propel Fernandez to the next level of influence.
