MARGATE, Fla. — Andrew Sonco, the owner of Sneakers Connect, a store in Margate, shared surveillance video of a burglary that police officers recently responded to.
Two burglars, who were covered from head to toes, smashed the front door at about 2:50 a.m. on Thursday, and stole as much as they could in just minutes.
“They crawled in. They didn’t even unlock the door,” Sonco said. “They crawled in because the cops had to twist it up to get into the store.”
Sonco said he was heartbroken after he lost thousands of dollars when the burglars took off with limited edition sneakers, sports jerseys, and coveted Japanese fashion.
“I look at my cameras, I see police in here with the dogs trying to see what happened,” Sonco said. “And, I was scared because I thought, ‘Did I leave the door unlocked?’”
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
