Coronavirus: Florida reports 2,590 new cases Wednesday, 202 deaths

Positivity rate at 5.30% on yesterday’s tests

Florida reported 2,590 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday along with 202 more residents’ deaths.

The state is now up to 690,499 confirmed cases, 13,618 resident deaths and at least 164 non-resident deaths from COVID-19. At least 42,941 hospitalizations have been attributed to the novel coronavirus since the start of the outbreak, according to the state health department’s dashboard.

On Tuesday, the United States passed 200,000 deaths as a result of the pandemic, according to Johns Hopkins University.

New deaths confirmed over the past 24 hours include 42 in Miami-Dade County, 15 in Broward and 22 in Palm Beach County.

Wednesday was the first day since Sept. 10 that the state reported 200 or more deaths.

The statewide positivity rate from yesterday’s testing was 5.30%. The 14-day average is 4.65% and the 7-day is 4.73%.

Yesterday’s positivity: 4.04%

7-day positivity: 2.8%

PALM BEACH

Cases: 45,743 (+141)

Deaths: 1,308 (+22)

Yesterday’s positivity: 4.36%

The United States has passed 6.8 million confirmed cases, with over 200,000 deaths from COVID-19, the highest numbers in the world. Over 2.6 million Americans have been deemed recovered, according to data compiled from various sources by Johns Hopkins University.

Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases reported has surpassed 31.6 million. There have been more than 971,000 deaths worldwide attributed to the pandemic, with over 21.7 million being declared recovered.
