DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – A Pompano Beach woman, stranded on an Interstate 95 entrance ramp after running out of gas, died after being hit by another car Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just before 6:40 a.m. along the northbound entrance ramp from Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.

According to a crash report, after the woman’s SUV came to a stop in the middle of traffic, the 54-year-old put on her hazard lights and got out, walking towards the shoulder.
The woman was walking behind her vehicle when a 21-year-old man driving a Nissan sedan was “unable to stop in time” and crashed into them from behind, propelling the SUV driver into the roadway and killing her, troopers said.
Officials pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Officials haven’t publicly identified her.
