MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Newly-released body camera footage shows the moments after sheriff’s deputies said a South Florida real estate developer crashed his Cadillac into a senior’s home while driving at more than three times the legal limit, killing the octogenarian as he slept in his bedroom.

“What’s going on?” a confused and unsteady Allen Matis is heard asking a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy after getting out of the Cadillac Lyriq SUV on the night of June 24.

A distraught woman responds incredulously: “What are you talking about? You―”

Before she finishes her sentence, a deputy tells her to wait nearby.

Matis, 67, of Coral Gables, is accused of killing Henri Bezy, 82, in the crash, which happened at the latter’s home in the 2900 block of Southwest 57th Avenue, in the unincorporated Coral Terrace area.

In the MDSO body camera video, first responders can be heard finding Bezy’s body trapped underneath the vehicle.

Matis, meanwhile, is heard insisting, “I didn’t do this.”

But deputies said he not only caused the crash, he did so with a blood alcohol content of more than thrice the legal limit ― 0.245% to 0.29% ― having accelerated to 43 mph without hitting the brakes and running a stop sign.

Body camera footage shows Matis about to be blood-tested in a hospital bed. The results of the test would lead to charges of DUI manslaughter and reckless vehicular homicide, authorities said.

“You’re suspected of driving under the influence,” a deputy is heard telling Matis.

“What?” he replied, as he tried to refuse the test.

The Illinois-born Matis, who was ordered held without bond in late August, has a trial hearing scheduled for Nov. 2.
