Paul Henry Digiacinto, 32, is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Kyla Arce. According to the report, he also fired two shots in the direction of his father and also attempted to smother him with a pillow, but the victim told police he “played dead” in an effort to have Digiacinto “stop.”

At 5:55 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, Coral Springs Police dispatch received multiple 911 calls stating that there was a shooting inside a home along Northwest 107th Drive and 21st Street.

One caller told the dispatcher that she heard two gunshots come from inside the home. Another caller, who lives across the street, said that she heard four gunshots. The caller also said that the owner of the home had asked her to call 911 to tell them that her son, Paul, had shot his girlfriend, and also her husband, and that they were all still inside the home.

Multiple officers responded and attempted to make contact with those inside through an intercom according to the report, and attempted to reach anyone inside the home by telephone.

The department’s SWAT was then activated.

An hour after police arrived, the suspect’s father was able to make it out of the house. Officers said he had blood coming from his mouth but he had not been shot. That’s when police said they saw Digiacinto exiting the front door. Officers told him to exit and surrender, but he went back into the residence. Eventually, Digiacinto was taken into custody after a brief struggle and resisting arrest.

According to reports, the couple lived together in Pompano Beach but had been staying in Coral Springs with the suspect’s parents.

After being transported to Broward Health Coral Springs, the suspect’s father told police more details about what went on during the course of the rampage; that Digiacinto had taken everyone’s cell phones, including his own, and tried to flush them down the toilet to “deprive the victims of a way to contact law enforcement or anyone else for help.”

After Digiacinto was in custody, officers entered the residence where they found Arce in the living room. She had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Digiacinto was taken to Broward Health Coral Springs and later transported to Broward Health North.

He faces one count of premeditated murder, one count of premeditated attempted murder and one count of resisting arrest with violence.

No information about a motive was released.
