KEY WEST, Fla. – A 17-year-old girl — whom prosecutors plan to charge as an adult for the attempted murder of a 19-year-old woman in Key West — was carrying a weapon and drugs, according to police.

The teen had a three-inch fixed-blade knife stained with the victim’s blood and a baggie with a white powder that had both cocaine and Fentanyl, according to the Key West Police Department.

Police officers reported the victim was bleeding from her abdomen and shoulder and two teenage girls were running away on Thursday afternoon at Robert Gabriel, a public housing property.

Alyson Crean, a spokeswoman for the police department, said police officers detained the two teenage girls, and found a witness’s video showing one of the girls was the attacker.

Police officers released the other 17-year-old girl they had detained and questioned to her parent or guardian, and the victim was at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in Miami-Dade County, according to Crean.

The Monroe County’s State Attorney’s Office was transferring the case from juvenile court to adult court on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine.
