Miami police: Romantic relationship with crack cocaine user ends violently in Overtown

MIAMI – A romantic relationship with Tony Cain took a violent turn in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood after nine months, an injured woman told police officers.

About six months after an attack, Miami-Dade correctional officers booked Cain, 40, at 1 a.m., on Thursday, at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, county records show.

The woman reported Cain grabbed her from behind; dragged her; punched her in the head and ribs; and placed “his arm around her neck” until she lost consciousness, according to the arrest report.

The alleged attack was at about 1 a.m., on June 24, in the area of Northwest Eighth Court and 13 Street, and police officers arrested Cain shortly before 8:30 p.m., on Wednesday, in the area of Northwest First Place and 12 Street, according to the arrest report.

Cain was carrying crack cocaine that he intended to use when he was arrested in Overtown, according to police.

Court records show Cain has two cases pending. He is facing charges of kidnapping, strongarm robbery, battery by strangulation, and possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
