Israel-Hamas war: Protesters ask Wilson to side with Gaza

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Nearly a dozen protesters stopped at U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson’s office on Monday morning in Miami Gardens to hand deliver a letter advocating for Gaza during the Israel-Hamas war.

Amanda Fischer, who was among the protesters, said they want a cease-fire and for the U.S. federal government to stop giving military aid to Israel.

“Also to allow for, at the bare minimum, at least humanitarian aid to be able to reach the people in Gaza, who are dying,” Fischer said.

The protesters said they have also been calling her office regularly to exert pressure and felt ignored. A staffer at Wilson’s office promised to relay the protesters’ concerns.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to destroy Hamas, a Palestinian Sunni Islamist militant group in Gaza after Hamas attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7. The U.S. has considered Hamas a terrorist organization after leaders vowed to annihilate Israel.
