Sudden shakeup in the city beautiful with firing of City Manager

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — There has been a major shakeup at Coral Gables city hall.

By a three-to-two vote on Tuesday afternoon, the Coral Gables City Commission voted to fire City Manager Peter Iglesias.

Iglesias had worked in the city beautiful for more than five years.

He exited the chamber to a standing applause.

Commissioners Kirk Menendez, Ariel Fernandez and Melissa Castro voted to fire Iglesias.

Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago and Vice Mayor Rhonda Anderson voted against firing Iglesias.

The search will begin for his successor.
