Deputies seek shooter who left man ‘clinging to life’ in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives released surveillance video Thursday of a shooting that they say left a man “clinging to life” in Pompano Beach last week.

According to investigators, the shooting took place just before 4 p.m. on Feb. 15, near the 700 block of Northwest 16th Place.

After BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene, emergency crews located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Authorities said the victim was transported by paramedics to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Pompano Beach resident Amy Whaley told Local 10 News that she heard gunshots while inside of her home.

“As soon as I saw him, I prayed over him. It looked scary, she said. “I thought for sure he wasn’t going to make it to the hospital. It was bad.”

Surveillance video shows a male subject wearing a baseball cap, light-colored shirt and shorts exiting the passenger side of a light-colored 2013 to 2016 Lexus and firing multiple rounds before reentering the vehicle.

The driver of the car was then seen fleeing with the shooter, deputies said.

Investigators are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the culprits and vehicle involved.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the shooter, the driver, or the vehicle’s whereabouts to contact BSO Violent Crimes Detective Jennifer Petrofsky at 954-321-4238 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
