Vero Beach couple charged for entering U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6

VERO BEACH, Fla. – A Vero Beach couple is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges for their actions on Jan. 6, 2021 in Washington D.C.

Surveillance footage captured Andrew and Whitney Johnson joining rioters inside the U.S. Capitol rotunda.

According to the FBI, Andrew Johnson repeatedly called officers “oathbreakers” and physically pushed back against police trying to clear rioters from the rotunda.

He was eventually escorted out.

Whitney Johnson is also accused of yelling obscenities at officers and slapping an officer.

Both were taken into custody by the FBI on Thursday and have already made an appearance in a Southern District of Florida courtroom.
