Surfside commissioner accuses son of ex-commissioner of battery

SURFSIDE, Fla. – Surfside politics took a strange turn this week.

Commissioner Jeffrey Rose, the town’s vice mayor, accused former Commissioner Eliana Salzhauer’s son Joshua Epstein of pushing him.

Police officers arrested Epstein, 18, and correctional officers booked him on Friday. A judge ordered him to stay at least 25 feet away from Rose on Saturday.

Epstein, who was facing a charge of battery of an elected officer or employee, was released on his own recognizance.
