FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police officers reported a 27-year-old patient accused a healthcare worker of being racist and threatened to hurt her with a pair of scissors in Broward County.

The patient, Ashonte L. Warren, had an appointment for magnetic resonance imaging in Lauderhill and the worker asked her to remove metal hair clips, according to an arrest report released on Monday.

Warren agreed to remove them and asked the worker for a pair of scissors. The worker handed her a pair of office scissors and told her that she had to use them outside, according to police.

“Warren held the scissors above her head with the sharp edge towards [the worker’s] face,” Officer Alyssa Alonso wrote in the report. “In fear for her life, [the worker] locked herself inside the MRI room to get away from Warren and the scissors.”

Alonso reported the woman also reported Warren had allegedly also threatened to “beat her ass,” and later called management to make more threats. No one was injured.

Records show police officers arrested Warren on Sunday for the alleged incident on June 29 in Lauderhill and Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies booked her at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale.

Warren was facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. She remained at the jail on Monday afternoon. Her bond was $3,500.
