DAVIE, Fla. – A woman who was arrested in February by Davie police on accusations that she kidnapped her daughter, who she did not have custody of, is at large once again, according to an arrest warrant obtained Friday by Local 10 News.

According to the warrant that was issued Wednesday, Arys Maria Martinez, 34, tampered with her GPS ankle monitor, removing it and making it inoperable.

The warrant states that her current “whereabouts and activities” are unknown.

Court documents show that Martinez faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, interference with custody, child neglect, possession of fentanyl and possession of cocaine.

Martinez and her baby’s father, Jacob Alexander Howard, 34, were arrested by Davie police on Feb 21.

According to police, the then 8-month-old baby, Amelia Martinez, was dropped off at a daycare center by her grandmother around 11 a.m. the day prior.

She was then picked up around 1:40 p.m. that day by her father and was passed off to her mother, authorities said.

They said both Arys Martinez and Howard had their parental rights terminated and Amelia is currently in ChildNet’s custody.

Investigators with the FDLE initially believed Amelia and Arys Martinez were traveling in a white Toyota Camry, heading to Orlando.

Police later confirmed that Amelia was found safe inside a home in the area of Northwest 215th Avenue and Eighth Court in Pembroke Pines.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department confirmed that its SWAT team assisted in retrieving Amelia from the home.
