Witnesses said a fight in the bar devolved into a 3:40 a.m. shooting on March 24. Some of the bar’s patrons ran to the parking lot along U.S. Route 441, also known as State Road 7.

According to police, three men were standing in a nearby parking lot when they noticed an altercation taking place at the entrance of the bar.

Seconds after, a scuffle broke out when police said a victim witnessed Roberts pulling a gun from his waistband and shooting in the group’s direction.

Witnesses also told detectives they observed a man pull out a gun and three were injured — including a man feared dead.

BSO deputies later confirmed that man, who they identified as DeAndre Major, 26, of Fort Lauderdale, was pronounced dead at the hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives would later rule his death as a homicide.

The victim’s friends who were injured did not wait for fire rescue personnel to respond and drove themselves to Florida Medical Center in North Lauderdale to be treated, an arrest warrant stated.

Detectives identified Brandon Pinkney, 36, of Coral Springs and Clarence Hall, 30, of Miami, as the victims who sustained injuries that were listed as non-life threatening.

Through investigative means, authorities said they identified Roberts as the shooting suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Deputies said Roberts was arrested on March 29 at the Broward Main Jail.

Despite the arrest, authorities said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Homicide Detective Louis Bonhomme at 954-321-4377 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
