Cops captured and caged “El Gato,” whose real name is Julio Alvera-Hernandez, on multiple charges, including attempted murder, on Thursday.

According to police, the crime happened just before 4 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue.

An arrest report states that Alvera-Hernandez, 54, first approached the victim and began beating him with a golf club.

Police said after the victim fell to the ground, Alvera-Hernandez stabbed him in the back of his neck and took his wallet and gold chain.

The arrest report states that “El Gato” then went into his Ford F-250, came out wielding a gun, pointed it at the victim and threatened to kill him.

He never fired, police said, and instead took off in the pickup. The arrest report doesn’t list a motive.

Medics later took the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Detectives said they found the golf club broken into three pieces, with hair and blood on the handle.

Police said they located Alvera-Hernandez in the 100 block of West 25th Street Thursday and arrested him just after 6:30 p.m. on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault with a firearm.

The Cuban national was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Thursday afternoon.

His bond was listed in jail records as “to be set.”
