MIAMI — David Ziesel admitted to covering his face before walking into iTHINK Financial, while holding an empty pillowcase and shouting, “This is a robbery.”

Ziesel, 45, had already been convicted of two bank robberies when he was speeding away from police officers, deputies, and troopers in a gray Mazda on Jan. 25 in Florida, police said.

FBI Miami later learned Ziesel, of Port St. Lucie, was on probation for a 2019 bank robbery in Ohio when he drove recklessly from Fellsmare to Fort Pierce.

The high-speed chase started on North Broadway Street, continued on Interstate 95, and ended in a crash at South 13 Street and Georgia Avenue.

Ziesel admitted to robbing iTHINK Financial, police said. FBI Miami, the Florida Highway Patrol, the Fellsmere Police Department, and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office collaborated on the case. A federal judge recently sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
