DAVIE, Fla. — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on a busy South Florida highway.
It happened Friday at approximately 7:50 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-595 just east of Hiatus Road in Davie.
According to authorities, rescue units responded to reports of a shooting at the listed location on the highway.
10 a.m. report:
Upon arrival, officials said they found a woman who had been shot in the head while riding in a SUV.
The victim was transported to Broward Health Medical Center as a trauma alert.
Her identity has not been disclosed at this time, however, police described the suspect vehicle as an older model Dodge.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led up the shooting.
No other details were immediately released.
