BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — An investigation is ongoing after an SUV collided with a home in Broward County on Thursday.
It happened along the 2900 block of Northwest 13th Street around 3:15 p.m.
According to authorities, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews responded to the home and found a woman inside the SUV.
She was suffering from a leg injury and bleeding, officials said, and after being extricated from the SUV, she was rushed to Broward Health Fort Lauderdale as a trauma alert.
They said the woman’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
“We was lining up in the parking over there waiting to be called to get in the food bank line,” said Al, who saw what happened.
No additional injuries were reported among the five people inside the home, according to BSFR.
“I came home and I saw the car in my house,” said resident Goldie Pitts. “I just hoped out the car and started running, like ‘oh my God, what happened’ because my niece was here, I didn’t know whether she was hurt or what happened. It’s nerve wracking. They speed through this neighborhood everyday like they’re on I-95.”
The home, which Pitts has lived in since the 1980s, has been deemed unsafe. The American Red Cross is assisting.
The investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear if speed was a factor.
