FPL partners with Miami-Dade for ‘water recovery’ center

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Power & Light partnered with Miami-Dade County to launch the Clean Water Recovery Center.

Brayan lledes, a maintenance engineer, said the process starts with the removal of nutrients from the water.

“It goes through a filtration system then a chlorination system,” Iledes said.

The facility will treat and reuse up to 15 million gallons daily of reclaimed water to cool the natural gas plant at Turkey Point.

Bill Orlove, a spokesman for FPL, said the project is “a win-win for the county, for the environment and also for our customers.”
