Its design is similar to the One World Trade Center in New York City.
The library is set to be built on a lot next to Miami’s Freedom Tower after a judge cleared the way for the prime piece of downtown land to be used for the site.
Miami Commissioner Damian Pardo told Local 10 News in a statement that the city itself has “limited jurisdiction, if any, over its planning and development.”
“We encourage residents, stakeholders, and community organizations to stay informed and participate in the process to the extent possible, ensuring that local voices are heard and considered before any final design is approved,” Pardo said. “Thoughtful discussion and advocacy is key to achieving outcomes that reflect the voices of residents, the character of our neighborhoods.”
