The fire was reported in the 14100 block of Northeast 15th Avenue.

Jose Patalano, who lives at the home, told Local 10 News that his family and their dogs made it out safely.

“I woke up to fire and smoke and that was it,” he said. “I had to get my dogs out of there, my kids – everyone was out, so we made it out safe and the rest … we were just waiting for the fire department to come and take care of it.”

Patalano said he initially tried to extinguish the flames himself with a garden hose.

“I grabbed the hose, I broke the window. I didn’t know what else to do,” he said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that six units responded to fight the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
