PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol released a video Thursday showing the end of a chase on Interstate 95.
The video showed a trooper pulling close to a fleeing sedan and making contact twice before it stopped.
“Last night, a Broward resident did not wish to follow #rule1 and continued to flee from FHP,” a spokesperson for the agency wrote. “He was forced to meet the concrete wall into a complete stop.”
The trooper appeared to have been performing a precision immobilization technique, or PIT maneuver.
The driver of the sedan lost control of the car and the airbags deployed before being forced to stop in Broward County.
The troopers reported arresting the driver, Patrick Pierre, a convicted felon, and finding a Taurus handgun, cash, 7 cellphones, and bags of marijuana in his car.
According to FHP, Pierre, who has six prior convictions for driving with a suspended license, was driving with a suspended license again.
Pierre was at the main jail on Thursday in Fort Lauderdale facing charges of reckless driving, fleeing with disregard for safety, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, driving with a suspended license repeat offense, and resisting an officer without violence.
