A victim identified Burkin as part of a group of about six men from Lithuania and Ukraine who ambushed him and attacked him in North Miami Beach, according to police.

“The victim believed he was being followed and targeted for revenge,” a detective wrote, according to the report.

At about 6:20 p.m., on March 26, the attackers got out of the Lexus and a white Mercedes-Benz on the sixth floor of the parking garage at Lazul, an apartment complex at 2145 NE 164 St., according to the report.

First, a man punched the victim and the Lithuanian who was driving the Mercedes-Benz struck the victim’s companion in the arm with a metal baton before a gunman started shooting, according to the report.

The attackers fled after the companion of the victim who believed he was the target of the attack was shot, according to police. Fire rescue personnel took the man wounded to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital and he recovered, police said.

On Tuesday, Sunny Isles police officers spotted the Lexus, ordered Burkin to stop at Collins Avenue and 172 Street, detained him, and took him to the North Miami Beach Police Department, records show.

During questioning, Burkin denied being a part of the attack, police said. A detective arrested him and Miami-Dade correctional deputies booked him at about 1:50 a.m., on Wednesday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, records show.

Burkin faced a charge of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
