Expect a line of strong thunderstorms to move in around daybreak Monday. Storms will be scattered throughout the day with some spots getting more dry time than others.

Several rounds of rain are expected through early Tuesday before breaking up.

Rainfall totals are expected to reach 1-3 inches, but a few neighborhoods where thunderstorms back build could get bullseyes of 3-6 inches. This is where we could have flooding.

This could be the drought busting rainfall South Florida needs. Several inches of rain and even a few strong thunderstorms are on the way. Here's what you should know...

South Florida is under a severe to extreme drought with only half the amount of expected rain so far this year. This dry ground increases the threat for flooding because it is slower to absorb water.

The Storm Prediction Center also placed the Florida Keys, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale under a marginal risk of severe weather on Monday, which is a level one out of five. This means a stray storm could become severe with damaging winds or an isolated tornado.

We will gradually dry out on Tuesday and no other rain is expected for the rest of the week. The focus will turn toward the first 90s of the season for Miami into next weekend.
