Man hospitalized after arm gets trapped in industrial equipment in Deerfield Beach

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A man was transported to a hospital early Wednesday morning after his arm got stuck in some kind of industrial equipment in Deerfield Beach, authorities confirmed.

According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, emergency crews responded to 1441 North Newport Drive around 3 a.m. after receiving reports that a man’s arm had gotten trapped in a large piece of machinery.

“Upon arrival, first responders, including members of our Technical Rescue Team, discovered one adult male with his hand and arm severely entrapped and injured by industrial equipment,” BSFR said in an email to Local 10 News. “The extrication process was complex and required approximately 45 minutes to safely free the patient.”

First responders confirmed that “continuous pain management and medical support” was given to the victim as crews worked to free his arm from the equipment.

The victim suffered significant trauma to his hand and arm and was transported to Broward Health North as a trauma alert, authorities said.

Further details about how the man’s arm became entrapped have not been released.
