Records show Moreno, 44, who is best known for his roles in telenovelas such as El Rostro de Analía, Una familia con suerte, and Me declaro culpable, was taken into custody around 4 a.m. Thursday.

According to Miami-Dade deputies, the incident occurred late Wednesday night at the family’s home, located near the 3800 block of Southwest 150th Court, where Moreno and his wife — who are currently in the process of divorcing — began arguing over “marital issues.”

An arrest report states that the argument began when Moreno asked to use his wife’s cellphone around 11:20 p.m. and began going through it.

When the victim asked for her phone back, deputies said Moreno refused to return it. That’s when they said a struggle ensued, during which Moreno forcibly removed the phone from her hands.

The couple’s oldest daughter, who witnessed the incident, gave her phone to her mother, who then called police.

Authorities said the victim was not injured during the incident.

The phone, valued at approximately $250, was eventually returned by Moreno, the report stated.

Moreno was born in Havana and built a strong following through his work in Mexican and U.S.-based Spanish-language television and remains a recognizable figure among Hispanic audiences.

As of Thursday, he is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond is listed as “to be set.”
