MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 42-year-old woman died after being shot Sunday afternoon in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said they responded just before 4 p.m. to the area of Southwest 268th Street and Southwest 127th Avenue in reference to a female who had been shot.
Deputies said upon arrival, they found Latrosha Williams suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported her to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Williams succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead, according to investigators.
Authorities said homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
No other details about a possible suspect or motive were immediately released by authorities.
Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows the victim and another woman in an altercation outside the store.
A witness to the shooting who asked not to be identified told Local 10’s Bridgette Matter what she saw.
According to that witness, Williams was angry that the woman in the dress almost ran her over.
“So the victim came to the lady and said, ‘You didn’t see me, you need to learn how to drive,’” the witness said.
After the woman left the store and headed back toward her car, the argument continued.
“Once she came out the store, they went back and forth, back and forth,” said the witness. “So I got again in the middle.”
Surveillance video shows the woman in the dress reach into her purse and grab a gun while walking to her car.
After the two exchanged words, the victim is seen punching the woman in the dress, leading to a scuffle.
It was during that scuffle that Williams was shot.
“When the lady shot her, I went back outside and she told me, ‘Ma’am, I didn’t do anything. I didn’t do anything wrong,’” said the witness.
After the shooting, that woman got into a silver Cadillac and drove away.
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
