2 hospitalized after motorcycle, scooter collide in Miami

MIAMI — Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday morning after a crash involving a motorcycle and a scooter in Miami.

The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. along northwest 7th Street, between 18th Place and 19th Avenue, according to Miami Fire Rescue.

A 28-year-old woman riding a scooter collided with a 30-year-old man riding a motorcycle, fire rescue officials said. Both were taken to Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.

The woman is in serious condition, while the man was described as being in extremely critical condition, according to firefighters.

Police blocked off the roadway as investigators worked to determine what led up to the crash. Debris remained scattered across the street, and the motorcycle involved was still at the scene hours later. No traffic was being allowed through the area in either direction.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
