A child was struck by a vehicle Saturday in Fort Lauderdale and transported to a Broward County hospital as a trauma alert, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — An 8-year-old boy was struck by a car Saturday in Fort Lauderdale and transported to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert, according to Fort Lauderdale police.

Police said the crash was reported in the 500 block of Southwest 27th Avenue. They said the boy was transported by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue medics to Broward Health Medical Center for further treatment.

Authorities said they located the driver, and no arrests have been made at this time.

They said the northbound and southbound lanes in the 500 block of Southwest 27th Avenue were closed due to the crash.

Authorities had not immediately released the boy’s identity, condition or additional details about how the crash occurred.
