COCONUT CREEK, Fla. — A walk in honor of suicide prevention and mental health awareness brought people together Saturday morning in Coconut Creek.
The sixth annual Celebrate Your Life 5K got underway around 7 a.m. at Tradewinds Park. The event supports Tony’s Tribe, a nonprofit focused on suicide prevention, awareness and mental health education.
“This is not just a 5K, this is a movement,” said Judy Albelo of Tony’s Tribe. “We feel that it takes a village to support people. So, we create this safe space, and everyone feels very supportive.”
Organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together while encouraging conversations about mental health and suicide prevention.
Tony’s Tribe is also launching a scholarship for students pursuing careers in the mental health field.
More information about Tony’s Tribe and ways to get involved is available at tonystribe.org.
