A witness called 911 to report Steven Flowers at about 6:40 a.m., on Wednesday, along Southwest 273 Lane, near 119 Avenue, in Cutler Landing, and when deputies arrived he was at Southwest 274 Street, records show.

A Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputy reported getting out of a marked patrol car after Flowers, 39, ignored orders to stop, ran eastbound, and there was a pursuit, records show.

It took two Taser stun guns and six M-DCSO deputies to subdue Flores and handcuff his wrists and legs during an exchange that injured all seven involved, according to the deputies’ arrest report.

Miami-Dade fire rescue personnel responded to treat the six deputies at the scene and took Flores to the Jackson South Medical Center in Kendall, according to the deputies’ arrest report.

On Thursday afternoon, Miami-Dade County court records showed Flowers had three pending criminal cases and a judge had denied him bond.

Prosecutors filed two new cases with 23 charges after Flores’s arrest on Wednesday. One was for burglary with assault or battery, battery, and indecent exposure.

The second was on six counts of battery on the deputies, six counts of aggravated assault on the deputies, six counts of resisting arrest, and one more count of indecent exposure.

Miami-Dade deputies had arrested Flowers on March 10 and he had been in the monitored release program since March 25, according to court records.

Prosecutors had filed a case on March 11 on a violation of a domestic violence injunction after dropping a case for armed robbery, battery, and tampering with a witness.

Flowers already had a criminal record. In 2020, prosecutors charged him with possession of a controlled substance and the court found him guilty but he was not formally convicted and was on probation until 2021, court records show.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Yara Lorenzo Klukas was presiding over the March case and Circuit Judge Milton Hirsch was presiding over the two new cases.
