According to his arrest report, Antonio Delva and several other people approached the victim and got into a physical altercation with him. Police said Delva repeatedly shot at the victim and the victim shot back, striking the suspect. According to the arrest report, the victim also suffered injuries to his right eye, causing his vision to be skewed. Police: 3 face charges after teens beat, rob victim at McDonald’s

Charges, however, were dropped against one of the teens who was there, per the victim’s request, according to authorities. Video shows arsonist set parked cars on fire in Cutler Bay

Surveillance video shows the arsonist running after setting the unoccupied cars on fire on Feb. 27 in front of a home in the Whispering Pines community. He walked around the area and found an empty milk jug that smelled like gas inside a Burlington plastic bag. The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Town of Cutler Bay’s policing unit was working with the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department to find the arsonist. Man angry about dirty car attacks 2 with machete, police say
CUTLER BAY, Fla. – A Miami man has been charged with attempted murder and armed assault after reportedly getting angry after he accused another man of getting his vehicle dirty, then demanding he clean it. When the person refused, Miami Police said Yosmel Galan, 32, returned armed with a machete. The events, according to police began on Tuesday, Feb. 9, around 9:54 a.m., when Galan, reportedly went to a business adjoining the one where he worked to confront another person about getting his car dirty. He then told the person to clean it, but the victim refused. According to the report, Galan returned 30 minutes later and entered through a door to the business, which is not open to the public and only for employees.

The multistate Powerball game had a $2 million winner in South Florida last month. CUTLER BAY, Fla. – Just days after the $731.1 million Powerball winner was sold up in Maryland a few weeks back, a South Florida man had his own significant score in the popular lottery game. Everett Kurtz, 68, of Cutler Bay, won a $2 million prize from the Powerball drawing held Jan. 23 — the next drawing after the nine-figure jackpot in Maryland. Kurtz’s ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers but did not match the Powerball, Florida Lottery officials said. Florida Lottery says that since the state joined the Powerball game in 2009, it has generated more than $2.2 billion in contributions to education statewide.
Police seek answers about 22-year-old man’s killing in Palmetto Bay
PALMETTO BAY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating after a 22-year-old man was fatally shot last week in Palmetto Bay. The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. Jan. 6 in the area of Southwest 92nd Avenue and 176th Street. The victim, Aaron Nelson Swerdloff, was shot outside a home and his family is still desperate for information about who killed their son. According to his family, the home where the shooting occurred belongs to a family whom Swerdloff had been friends with for most of his life. According to police, he was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Jackson South Medical Center with serious injuries.
Why was a tank driving around a Miami-Dade neighborhood?
PALMETTO BAY, Fla. – Video on social media showed what looked like a military tank driving around a Palmetto Bay neighborhood on Sunday. Commenters on the Cutler Bay Social Facebook page wondered if the tank was part of a military operation. But a spokesperson with the Florida National Guard said the tank was not part of its fleet, and military experts said the tank appeared to be a British combat vehicle. The matter was cleared up by Miami-Dade Police, which issued a statement that read:“Miami-Dade Police Department, Village of Palmetto Bay units received reports of a military-style vehicle observed on the Village roads. “It’s a poor choice of timing to have military equipment like that in a residential neighborhood,” resident James Woodard said.
Officers surround Cutler Bay building after intruder stands on roof
CUTLER BAY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police officers managed to convince a man to surrender on Tuesday afternoon after standing on the rooftop of a Cutler Bay building for about 20 minutes. Officers surrounded the building at 10700 Caribbean Blvd., near Southland Mall. Once the man surrendered, officers found he was not armed. After Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel examined him, officers decided to detain him and take him to a nearby hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, police said.
Police: 3 people shot at flea market in Cutler Bay
CUTLER BAY, Fla. – 3 men were shot when a group of people got into an argument that escalated into gunfire at a flea market, according to police. Witnesses told police that there was first a verbal argument, which then led to a physical fight. During the fight, gunfire was exchanged and three men, ages 18, 19 and 52, were shot, police said. Two of the victims were transported to Jackson South Medical Center, where one was in critical condition and the other listed as stable. Miami-Dade police and Cutler Bay police are investigating.

CUTLER BAY, Fla. – A man was shot on Thursday night in Miami-Dade County’s Cutler Bay area. The accused gunman waited for officers to arrive, police said. Tropical storms cause flooding, other damage in area
MIAMI, Fla. – Before it was Tropical Storm Sally, Tropical Depression 19 made landfall near Black Point Marina in south Miami-Dade on Saturday, bringing heavy rains and causing gusts of more than 40 miles an hour. The storm snapped tree limbs and scattered debris across roads in Cutler Bay. Along South Beach, a driver parked where he thought his car would be safe but he told Local 10 that there was a whoosh of wind and then a crack. TD19 eventually strengthening into Tropical Storm Sally, but before it made its way into the gulf, it dumped several inches of rain over South Florida. Local 10 Weather Authority’s Luke Dorris said Sunday’s weather will be stormy with more heavy rain, but storm activity will be scattered.

"The interstate commerce is usually the firearm used in the robbery, which is typically manufactured outside of the state where the robbery occurred.
State Representative issues statement on uncle’s shooting death
CUTLER BAY, Fla. – The mystery of who killed a Southwest Miami-Dade man on the morning of Christmas Eve continues to puzzle relatives, including his nephew, Florida State Representative Kionne McGhee, who issued a statement Friday on his uncle’s shooting death. The victim, 57-year-old Dennis McGhee, was shot just after 10 a.m. outside a home near S.W. McGhee’s family believes that the shooting could be a case of mistaken identity, but Miami-Dade police have not confirmed that information. The state representative commented that his uncle was known and beloved in his community. Miami-Dade police continue to search for who shot and killed McGhee and are offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
No major structural damage in Cutler Bay complex fire, officials say
CUTLER BAY, Fla. – Some residents are returning to their apartments the day after a two-alarm fire broke out on a roof of a Cutler Bay apartment complex. The blaze erupted and at one point saw 26 different fire units at the scene to douse the rooftop. Nearly 24 hours later, fire restoration companies are trying to get some residents back into their homes after city officials said there is no structural damage to the foundation. At least 24 homes were damaged and no injuries were reported after the blaze started in the community near Southwest 212 Street near 87th Avenue, officials said. “Building inspectors anticipate the units will be restored to their original state,” Cutler Bay Mayor Tm Meerbott said.

A neighbor ran inside to try to save the man trapped inside the burning home, but he was unsuccessful. According to the neighbor's daughter, two dogs ran out when her father opened the door to the burning house. The man who tried to save his neighbor was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Swim instructor confesses to molesting 2 girls, police say
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A swim instructor was arrested Tuesday after confessing to molesting two 9-year-old girls during swim classes in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities said. According to an arrest report, the incidents occurred at the Helen Sands community pool at 16350 SW 280th St. Authorities said both victims told their mother that their swim instructor, Daniel Diaz-Mejia, 20, of Cutler Bay, placed his fingers under their bathing suit and fondled their vagina during swim practice. Three mothers who brought their children to the Helen Sands pool Wednesday for the first time told Local 10 News reporter Liane Morejon that they were disturbed by the allegations. The third mother, Breanne, said parents have a false sense of security bringing their children to public places.
