Hialeah Senior High School teacher arrested on accusations of relationship with student

HIALEAH, Fla. – The campus of Hialeah Senior High School was rocked by the recent and news of a swift arrest of one its longtime teachers.

Police arrested 55-year old Misael Gonzalez on multiple counts of lewd and lascivious battery and a series of molestation charges following an investigation by Miami-Dade Schools Police.

Gonzalez, who teaches English and English honors classes at the school, was booked into jail late Tuesday.

The accusations involve an inappropriate relationship with a teenaged student.

The district reacted to the arrest with a statement that read, in part:

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is disturbed by the unsettling allegations made against this individual. This type of behavior will not be tolerated as it runs contrary to the professional conduct we expect from all employees. The District has initiated employment termination proceedings.”

Gonzalez is a former student of the high school himself who apparently returned years later to teach at his alma matter.

The campus known as the Hialeah Throughbreds is preparing for summer break.

Now students and faculty are forced to deal with this major development that has possibly forced the sudden end to a career for a longtime educator.
