Indiana cops say they caught Miami-Dade child molestation suspect with 85 pounds of meth, coke

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. – Deputies patrolling a northwest Indiana interstate captured a man wanted in Miami-Dade County for child sexual battery and child molestation on Wednesday, authorities announced.

Authorities said he also had a large stash of drugs in a cooler and a suitcase.

The Lake County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department, just outside of Chicago, announced the arrest of Yohan Ponce Riera, 39, of Ocala, in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Deputies said they pulled over Ponce Riera ā€œfor following too closely and failing to maintain the lane of travelā€ as he drove a Chevrolet Tahoe on Interstate 90.

They said a data search revealed the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office wanted Ponce Riera for child sex crimes.

According to the Facebook post, deputies also found ā€œ16 kilos of cocaine and 50 pounds of meth in a cooler and suitcase located inside the vehicle.ā€

ā€œFederal charges are pending through the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration,ā€ the post states.

Miami-Dade court records show multiple past cases for Ponce Riera, including a 2010 conviction for an armed robbery in Homestead three years prior.
