South Florida man who made headlines for climbing atop pole, ambulance at it again, cops say

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A South Florida man who made headlines for climbing atop a South Beach traffic light in 2021 and climbing onto a Miramar ambulance in 2023 has once again climbed somewhere he shouldn’t be, authorities say.

According to police, Todd Fitzroy Boothe climbed onto a pedestrian signal at State Road 7 and Miramar Parkway Monday morning.

It’s the same intersection where he was seen climbing the ambulance on Sept. 26, 2023.

Authorities said they believed that Boothe was again having a mental health crisis.

“One things he was saying is, ‘I’m famous,’ you know, ‘Look at me.’ So I think that, because this is his M.O., it’s not the first time he has done this,” Miramar police spokesperson Janice McIntosh said. “We believe that part of it is attention, but we also know that that is coupled with the mental health crisis that he’s dealing with, and so today, he will be arrested, but with a code for mental health.”

Sky 10 was over the scene as officers negotiated to try to get the 33-year-old down.

He eventually came down on his own.
