MIAMI — Four Miami police officers are under an internal affairs investigation and on administrative suspension, the agency announced Tuesday.

But Miami Police Department Chief Manny Morales remained tight-lipped about key details.

“I will not share their names,” Morales told Local 10 News after a city commission meeting Tuesday afternoon. “I will not share their assignments or ranks at this time.”

Morales also wouldn’t comment on the nature of the investigation.

He did say that other employees within the department came forward, which led MPD to initiate the investigation.

“Members of the Miami Police Department who knew the right thing had to be done came forward and identified members of the Miami Police Department (who) were not doing the right thing,” Morales said.

In an official statement, Morales added, “While we are limited in what we can disclose due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, one thing is clear: unethical behavior has no place in our ranks.”

Morales said that any officers facing criminal charges will be held to the “full extent of the law.”
