Roberto Munoz, who sexually abused a teenage girl, dragged the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent with his car until he crashed while trying to get away on Tuesday, according to DHS and FBI.
“Munoz had no legal right to be in this country — and certainly not free in the community after a conviction for sexually abusing a minor,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. said in a statement.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin described Munoz as an “illegal alien from Mexico” and a “sicko” who “was living in Minnesota without consequence.”
In Minnesota, Munoz was convicted of the 2022 child sex crimes in Hennepin County and federal agents arrested him on Tuesday in in Bloomington.
“This illegal alien has been committing violent crimes in the U.S. for nearly 15 years,” McLaughlin said. “He is a convicted child sex offender who has a rap sheet that includes an arrest for domestic assault and multiple driving offenses.”
Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson announced that Munoz faced a charge of assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous or deadly weapon, resulting in bodily injury.
